The river took our skin
I've got a ticket to go and hear Kae Tempest, at the Assembly Rooms, in a couple of weeks time - really looking forward to the event ...
... thinking about it, has got me re-reading their last volume of poetry (2018, as pictured); and so here's a favourite from within:
Dartmoor on Mushrooms
My true love
Came on slowly
Asked for nothing
Till I gave her all
Found myself beside her
In the wood
Beneath
A mighty sprawl
Of moss-bound life
And splendour
Trees as Kings
The river took our skin
And kissed us
Cold and moaning
Blessed our love
And let our love
Begin
