This is my friend Dave. He successfully defended his dissertation today, with distinction.

Congratulations to Dr. Dave.

The culmination of Dave's years of labor paid off today and it was indeed a sight to see. Two hours of intense questioning, some laughing, a bit of explaining. And all done with an erudite confidence and assured grace (except when he spilled his Red Bull on his notes, haha).

Pretty cool to see how the whole process works, how it all comes to an end. If I keep doing what I'm doing, I'll be sitting in that hot seat myself in about two and a half years. That seems so, so far away from now. The pages, the words, the thinking that exist between now and then.
