One week on.
Bright and blustery again this morning as I met my friend and walked up to the Tittle Tattle Tea shop where, after a cuppa, we had our monthly book group. A week late due to the Easter holidays but that extra week seemed to have given everybody the opportunity to finish the book.
New to me it was an historical thriller ‘Dissolution’ by CJ Sansom. A murder mystery set in Tudor England at the time of the dissolution of the monasteries. Everyone seems to have enjoyed it, especially the historical context where it was obvious that people living in that era lived their lives on a knife’s edge.
Also, whilst knowing about the dissolution, you rarely think about what happened to the monks.
The discussion moved to current royal dilemmas (Harry and Meghan) and broad bean and spinach Coronation quiches! Amazing where discussion can lead!
Next months book is my choice simply because I have never read him before. It’s Graham Norton latest ‘Forever Home’. (I also picked up a free copy in the station waiting room!)
Looking forward to it whilst also continuing to read David Olusoga’s ‘A House through Time’ a fascinating history of the development of homes/houses through British history -currently reading about the development of the suburbs and the fate of the slum dwellers in places like the Devil’s Acre behind Westminster Abbey!
Indoors this afternoon and back to the Scottish rug to keep me warm.
My blip came through the ether from Bath where, just as promised, the cress seeds have grown in just a week! (extra in last weeks blip). Grace’s tulips are still looking great in the garden.
Have a nice weekend.
A year ago in Bath the weather was warm and sunny, little ones in short sleeves, what has happened to the weather?
