The Old Curiosity Shop
Starting to sort out mum's possessions shouldn't take too long, but I can't resist photographing them in situ first.
Everything has a story though.
The complete works of Dickens were (as far as I remember) an early twentieth century partwork. In that my grandparents bought them in instalments as an investment for the children. I read a couple when I was at school, but am not a huge Dickens fan. They are beautiful books however.
The porcelain figure belonged to my aunt Jemima. Mum liked it because it reminded her of her aunty Jean.
I could go on for hours like this, cataloguing history.
