A hard life!
It is a hard life for plants living on a dry, soil-less stone wall. The pretty small fern known as the Maidenhair Spleenwort Asplenium trichomanes thrives in such conditions!
Plants with wort in their name are usually associated with herbal medicine..This is the case with this plant. A tea made from the fronds is sweet, demulcent, expectorant and laxative. It has also been used in the treatment of chest complaints and to promote menstruation.
