Rydal Cave
First full day of the holiday and we were up and out early doors. First stop, breakfast in Keswick at Plant by Kat's Kitchen with cakes to take with us. A wee walk around Keswick with market stalls.
Then, as we drove around Derwent Water, I was thinking myself that I probably should have left the big lens in the cottage so I wouldn't have such a heavy camera rucksack... then realised in the same thought that I hadn't actually picked up my rucksack... Doh!!! We were about an hour and a half away from the cottage by this point so there was no going back for it! I was cursing all day!
As it turned out there was no opportunity to stop for photos. I could not believe how busy it was. We got to the area for Rydal Cave and I had to drive back an forward a bit until we got a spot to park abandon the car. Then we had a lovely walk up to the cave. Aonghus was such a good boy and managed the walk. We had a cold drink and the best home made chips I have ever had at the pub on the village - the Badger Bar.
A stop in Amble side for a wee nosey at The Bridge House.
Then down past Windermere, onto Kendal then up to Penrith and back to the cottage. We did find more places to stretch Aonghus's legs but not as scenic as earlier in the day!
I think we were both in bed by 9pm!
