Blip Blossom Club
Here is my contribution to the BBC.
Memory is a strange thing.
Whereas I often cannot recall the name of someone I met yesterday,
I can easily remember the words of a song I heard in 1944 when I was nine years old.
It comes to me whenever I go out into the garden at this time of year.
It goes like this:
When its Cherry blossom time in Orange New Jersey
We’ll make a Peach of a Pear
I know we Canteloupe so Honeydew be mine
In Cherry blossom time.
Does that strike a chord with anyone ?
It was sung by Danny Kaye in the film Up in Arms
For many years it was often sung as Apple Blossom time but the original was Cherry.
