Quod oculus meus videt

Graffiti Artist

Despite the weather forecast most of the day was sdry, with even brief sunny periods.  After lunch we took a walk along the Wyrley and essington Canal, around Brownhills and then returning along a disused railway line now called the McClean Way.

While taking a brief stop at a convent bench for a drink, we could smell chemicals.  In the distance we saw these two people, apparently applying graffiti to the bridge wall with spray cans.  You can see that this was quite a detailed work, when you notice all of the cans set up behind the shorter of the two people.  He seemed to be videoing his partner as he continued to develop the art on the wall.

Given the palisade fencing behind, I'm not sure his work will be appreciated by many, as the way finishes at this point.  Whether you appreciate this type of art or not, there seems more legitimacy to it these days.  I know the Canals and Rivers Trust have even erected boards alongside their canals to encourage this to be done in some of the inner city areas of Birmingham.
