Battle Of Veracruz

The Navy base next to the pier was decked out for Heroes Day. The commemoration was for the residents and cadets at the Naval Academy in Veracruz who attempted to resist an American invasion of the port in 1914. The occupation of Veracruz, the heroes were not successful, lasted for seven months until a withdrawal was negotiated by Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.
