Wharfedale

Hooray! A beautiful sunny day!!! We walked from Kettlewell (a small village behind the trees in the right hand corner) up a steep path onto the moor, along the ridge and then down to the river Wharfe and back to Kettlewell. Lots of people about and good to see and hear the moorland birds.

For info: Yorkshire has several 'Dales' or Valleys with a river in each one. The river Wharfe is 97km long rising on the North York Moors and winding down to join the river Ourse near York and then out to the North Sea.

Wharfe is the Celtic word for twisting or winding.
