Macarons....I've never tried them...It's my chance now, I bought them especially for MonoMonday...

The macaron originated in France. In 1581, Anne de Joyeuse and Marguerite de Lorraine married. Because of this special event, a new special kind of pastry made from powdered almond was introduced by Catherine de' Medici. This pastry was called a 'macarone'.
