Ilfracombe - the tunnel beaches

Backblip 20 April
I absolutely loved this part of Ilfracombe. The tunnels to the beaches were hand carved by miners in the 1820s when local entrepreneurs had the idea of developing tunnels to a rocky beach area where they developed pools. This turned Ilfracombe from the small fishing port to a tourist destination. There is a gentleman's pool and a ladies pool and nowadays a bar and cafe too, they even hold weddings here.
In the evening we went to meet up with Fiona again in her pub.  Fiona has successfully bid to be  Landlady of the Crimbletown pub twice which she has greatly enjoyed. In reality she is landlady of The Thatched Inn and I have put a picture in extras so you can see how incredibly characterful it is. Pop a bit of snow on the roof and it would fit into Crimbletown very well. We were able to meet up with the rest of the family too which was lovely.
