De-dangling the light fitting

We decided to try to sort out the lounge today.  Vacuumed, laid the rug, tucked the TV away behind the stand until we're ready to tackle the connection.  Made some decisions regarding the need for a small table for the lamp.  Etc, etc, etc.

Then I decided that, in order to live with the light fitting, I really needed to remove the dangly bits.   Actually was quite easy.
