Back to see the herons

My car alerted me that my key battery needed replacing so I headed for Tamworth Audi to sort it. As I was over in that direction on such a magnificent morning, I headed to RSPB Middleton Lakes.

The trees were full of herons. In one of my photos I counted ten separate nests in one part of a huge tree. 

You could hear the woodpecker but I wasn’t treated to him coming to the feeders. The car park was full of twitchers hoping to see the rare Lesser Spotted Woodpecker but I saw neither. 

Not a huge walk today. I was just trying to unstiffen and make the most of the stunning light.
