Hail shower (Day 2908)
My journey to town first thing this morning was made slightly more interesting than usual by a few snow flurries. The trip from town to Birsay was made more interesting by very heavy snow showers making it fairly difficult to see where I was going.
The plan for the day was to get the shower tray fitted and connected to the waste, which meant lifting a bit of floor and seeing what waste pipes were there. Seeing old clay pipe meant a change in plans, as I had to cut the clay back and convert it to plastic in order to connect anything else onto it.
Cutting back the clay pipe involved breaking out a load of concrete, digging a big hole and squeezing my angle grinder into a very small space to cut the pipe out in sections. I zoomed to town for more bits at lunchtime.
The customer has reported that the toilet often blocked, so I had arranged for a drain survey to be done. The pipe was blocked, and when it was eventually cleared, things didn't look quite right. No point in a nice new bathroom if the waste pipe blocks up, so I set about digging outside to try and locate the drains. Luckily they were just below the surface, and although they are working at the moment, they will need sorted out in the future.
I finished the day by getting the waste pipe converted to plastic and making connections for the loo, basin and shower. Maybe tomorrow I will get the shower tray fitted...
