A Rare Treat

We have never seen a sparrowhawk (I think) in the garden so you can imagine our excitement when she appeared today. Not good news for our many nesting birds sadly (all strangely absent at that moment). She had her sharp eyes on something in the tree and was constantly diving down out of sight before returning to her vantage point. Looking at her powerful beak, beady eyes and long talons, you can see this is a mean and efficient killing machine. A truly magnificent creature.
