Alarmed!

A couple of years ago, houses in Scotland had to have interlinked smoke alarms installed in their houses and these are mine.
No problems until a couple of days ago when I burnt some toast and rightly so, the smoke alarms went off.
However, since then, they have gone off a number of times for no reason.
And Joe!
He totally freaks out when they go off, running upstairs and hiding under the duvet!
This morning at 5.30 a.m., they went off again. I rushed upstairs, got my ladder, managed to remove them, took them outside and was just about to smash them with my hammer when they stopped making a noise!
They are now outside in a shed. I hope it doesn’t scare the mice too much if they go off again.
