Apollo has arrived

A day of hard work weeding the shrub beds.

The main item of Stowe news is the arrival of a statue of Apollo to join the Nine Muses at the Doric Arch. There has been a long wait for a new statue of Apollo to be crafted.

Apollo is considered to be the most handsome and most Greek of all the gods. He has been the most elusive to replace and it has taken time to reimagine him.

The original statue was at Stowe in 1735. He was made of lead but may well have been melted down (recycled)
