Guimarães

We took a train to Guimarães, a lovely small city with a well-preserved centre. Visitor highlights are the Paco dos Duques of Braganca and above that a castle. We enjoyed a restaurant in one of the small open spaces (to call them "squares" would offend geometry) and later a statue of a young girl in a quiet park.
