A new stone circle at the head of the Slad valley
After visiting the farm shop near Bisley, I grabbed the chance to have a short walk nearby. I drove towards Sydenhams Farm along a single track road and parked at the point the footpath left the road to drop down into the valley. It is an ancient track probably having been used since before Romans settled around this spot.
I stood and looked across the head of the Slad valley looking west towards Gloucester. The roof to the left is of Sydenham's Farm, and in the distance is a new farm building, an old barn that has been converted into a dwelling in relatively recent times.
The yellow crop in the foreground is rape seed, I think, while the distant hillside's meadow looks as if it is covered by flowering dandelions. In the middle of the field is a large tree and just to the left of it you can probably see a newly erected circle of yellow limestone 'stones'. Do go large to see it better. I know nothing more about it, but would like to, having always been interested in the stones that have been used to make meaningful marks on the landscape since the Stone Age thousands of years ago.
