Saturday bluebells
It's been a beautiful day. I wanted J to see the bluebells: the wood up the lane is not accessible for her, but P suggested we drive to a small wood he passes on his morning walks. Although we couldn't push her wheelchair right in, she had a good view into it from several points on the very quiet lane which runs alongside it. The verge was bright with a mixture of bluebells, stitchwort, celandines and wood anemones, but inside the wood the bluebells dominated, with immense drifts of them beneath the slim trunks of the coppiced trees. There were butterflies on the verge too, a bright male orange tip and a brimstone, but they did not pause long enough for a photo.
We continued a little further along the single track lane to the farm, to buy eggs at the gate. When P returns from his early morning walks he regales J with news of what the ducks, chickens, sheep and goats there were doing, along with descriptions of any precious hare sightings, so I took J out of the car in her wheelchair to give her a good view of the ducks, chickens and goats. We enjoyed standing in the sun, watching them and chatting with their owner; then, back at home, there were cuddles with the cats in the sunshine on the deck followed by waffles with (for J) ice cream. It's been a lovely, relaxing day.
