Ealing Studios

It’s rained all day here, so after a visit to see our friend Murdo up the road, we have stayed in and had an Ealing Studios day.

I am currently reading ‘The Secret Life of Ealing Studios - Britain’s Favourite Film Studio’, which is both interesting, as well as fun to read. The studio, which is still in operation today, has produced many British classic films such as: Passport to Pimlico, Whisky Galore, The Lavender Hill Mob, St. Trinians films etc.

This afternoon, we have watched the 1944 Ealing film ‘The Halfway House’, which is a supernatural film, which more than a hint of propaganda thrown in, which is understandable, given that it was being shown in cinemas throughout Britain during the latter years of World War 2. It was a very interesting, as well as an entertaining film with some good performances from actors inc. Glynis Johns (still alive today at 99 years old).

Here’s a link to the Ealing Studios website if you are looking for some more information.

Anyway, I hope you have had a good Sunday.
