Palaio Pyli

An ancient castle in the middle of Kos island.  It's quite high up if you're walking up from the nearby town of Pyli.  There's extensive old buildings around the area, but the castle itself is on a much steeper rocky outcrop.
Seen here from a nearby taverna, in the middle of nowhere, with great views.
We didn't bother going right up, as we were planning a much longer walk across the main hilltops to the highest point on the island.  Except we got completely lost, and ended up back at our starting point.  In hindsight, we'd have been better just going up to the castle!
