Rugby 7s
I woke up still not feeling well this morning but I had to umpire my team's netball matches. So it was an early start to Irene where we played at Southdowns school.
I coach the Grade 1, 2 and 3 netball teams. The girls did very well for their first time this season. The Grade 2s were especially good today remembering all the things I have taught them.
From there I went home and fetched daughter T and my father-in-law so that we could watch son K playing rugby. He played at Summit school in Kyalami which was luckily not too far away. Rugby 7s is not a very long game and they played 3 matches today. We were able to watch the last one where he scored a try! (His 3rd of the day.) His team is made up of a really great group of boys and its so nice to see their parents supporting them too. It turned out to be a lovely morning out in the warm sun of a not-so-winter's day.
Mr G treated us to brunch (Nino's mince and eggs on toast) and then we went home to get some rest. Mr G got a new book for his birthday, Drug Muled, which I was able to read in the afternoon. It was really riveting and quite emotional! Vanessa Goosen was a Miss South Africa finalist who was duped into carrying heroin hidden in some books in her luggage. She was caught and sentenced to life imprisonment in a Thai jail in 1994. She spent sixteen and a half years there and was finally released in 2010.
It was Chinese take aways again for supper and an early night for me!
