Carmina Burana
The time zone change between Auckland and Sydney meant that I got an extra two hours sleep and still got up at the same "time". I must have needed it. When I pulled the curtains aside, the Super Moon (I am advised by ceridwen that this is the moon at its closest to earth) was low in the sky, slightly orange from the rising sun, and attracted a quick shot with the Pentax.
Then a pleasant walk/run around the edges of the harbour, and getting more than the one obligatory photo while running. The best was of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the early morning light. Back to the hotel, shower, breakfast and across to the Convention Centre (for once a "five minute walk" was neither less nor more).
An interesting day in a workshop with John Sadler on examining psychiatric practice from a virtue perspective. Mostly working in small group discussion on answering questions on different problem areas. Informative and stimulating.
Dear S stayed in the room and worked on her writing, undistracted by calls from one person or another. Even me. The battery in her phone was flat so she didn't get my text suggesting meeting for lunch! I had to make do with colleagues. Sob.
Still somewhat on Auckland time, we went out early for a meal on the edge of Darling Harbour. On the way back to the hotel, we chanced upon a display of fountains and light to music. Late arrivals, we were at the back of the rows of spectators, some of whom had waited for most of the hour after the previous show had finished.
This one was superb. Started with an opera chorus that S loves (Slaves Chorus), and after a couple of other pieces the show ended with the opening segment of Carmina Burana. It was only at that point that I had enough of an unobstructed view to get this photo of the display. A lovely way to end the day.
