'Moerloosei' a Meringe?

 The Meringue?  I thought that was my © - THEN - I saw:-
"The bowler became de rigueur for officers, while flat caps fell out of favour except among whippet and pigeon owners.
Or a meringue?"  
I suspect s/he's a fellow Northerner?

MANY years ago, "we" bought a Chaenomeles speciosa 'Moerloosei'.
 As usual Alice fell for it; NOT that I objected in the least, of course.  
I can't, now, remember whether it died, or was ousted - BUT - either way, this is not it.  

Same place, similar shades, but - either from a Sucker OR a fallen Quince.
"Or a Meringue?"

STILL   I'm keeping it!
