Parade
15yo and I headed down to Valley Parade for Bradford City Women's final game of the season against Newcastle United.
The two sides played in front of 24,000 fans at St James Park a fortnight ago, but today it was a more modest 1,000, including a good number of away fans, in the lower tier of the main stand. This was Newcastle's game in hand over Durham Cestria who had been three points ahead of them at the top of the table. For City only a win would see them avoid relegation, and that seemed unlikely given the 6-1 reverse in the last game.
The visitors won convincingly 6-0. Probably a bit flattering given three came in the last five minutes. City played some nice football but were never a threat and were consistently undone by Newcastle's pace combined with long balls over the top.
Newcastle have one more game to win to secure the title. City fall out of the National League for the first time in many years.
