Here's a "traditional" leather seat for a racing motorcycle of the 50's vintage.  This one happens to belong to the 1951 Flathead HD Racer I Blipped yesterday........truth be told, I just Blipped it this morning as time eluded me yesterday.

No padding on a racer seat...just pure leather.  Also, notice the coil-spring suspension on the seat, the only shock absorber on the whole bike seat.
