Run 'The Duck'
With the benefit of hindsight, running Crewe parkrun so soon after a bout of COVID probably wasn't a great idea. However, I had been planning it for ages and it seemed stupid not to come all that way and not be a "parkrun tourist".
I didn't run full-gas. Once the initial crowd thinned out, I just settled down and ran fairly gently, tracking another runner who was going at, for me, a comfortable pace.
Really liked the course! As a kid, I played in Queen's Park, particularly just after my parents separated and as I bounced between my Mum and Dad. The parkrun course map is somewhat duck-like and, of course, there are ducks in the lake along the south side of the park.
After breakfast and a shower back at the hotel, I walked into town and met up with a couple of friends for a beer in the Market Hall, before going to the Hops for another couple of pre-match pints. Crewe obliged with a win - coming from behind with two late goals to beat Swindon Town 2-1.
Back in London, I met Gus and we went for a couple of beers at the Green Goddess. A good end to a good day.
