From grunge to hip ...

... are words commonly used to describe the recent transformation of the inner-city suburb of Braddon, in Canberra. We're staying here for a week. 

When we lived in the adjoining suburb for 30 years we came to Braddon to buy cars and have them maintained and to buy hardware and outdoor gear. Most of the light industry has now given way to up-market coffee roasters and restaurants. And small (funky!) shops selling designer-clothing and expensive homewares. And a wildly-popular micro-brewery.

Fortunately, some pockets of grunge remain. This street art was created last year for the inaugural street art festival. There is another view in extra.
