Young Piper

This evening at Rotary we enjoyed listening to this young piper who came with one of the other members of the local pipe band to thank the Rotary Club for funding his made to measure kilt. We had appreciated when two members of the band came to our Burns supper in January and the haggis was piped in. At that time we asked if there was something we could do for them , kit was mentioned, and we came up with the idea of a kilt.

He is obviously already a very talented piper and we enjoyed chatting with him over the meal. When he heard us talking about our recent Primary School Quiz he piped up ( excuse the pun ! ) that he had taken part in it himself a few years ago and his local village school team had come second.
He played a medley of tunes and after thanking us profusely for the kilt , and his meal, he told us his hope was to go to play the pipes in Canada. He then headed off to play with the army cadet band, another one he plays with, and we wished him well.

We all agreed that he looked extremely smart in his kilt - the beautiful pleats can be seen in the extra where our President is  capturing a photo as he warmed up his pipes - outside of course !
