The waiting game

This heron is a regular visitor to our pond even though we have not had fish for years- they snaffled them within months of their arrival.
Instead it catches frogs.
 
Today we hear another neighbour reports regular visits from a heron and it has got us wondering if this is the same heron that used to stand under the bridge beside the Allanwater river. Because that one hasn’t been seen for some time.

Is that because of a lack of fish in the river and its been forced to hunt around our gardens?
