Monsal viaduct
Enjoying a sunny and warm weekend in the dales. The annual tradition of 'well-dressing' in the beautiful village of Ashford in the Water was a great insight into the human connection with nature, mother earth, water, and thanksgiving. Fascinating.
The picture shows the Monsal viaduct - built in late 19th century, and described by the poet John Ruskin as a lance on the beautiful Derbyshire landscape. I guess it must have been at the time but its now an interesting remnant of the industrial revolution.
