Café de l'Aubette
Day 2 in Strasbourg... Our art historian daughter recommended we visit the restored Café de l'Aubette and it was a great suggestion. I am a big fan of Hans and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who designed the café with Theo Van Doesburg in 1928, and we really enjoyed seeing this fun space. Another photo of the ciné-café area is in the extras.
We had beautiful weather, almost too warm, and walked all over the city. We started out at the Cathedral and J climbed up the bell tower to get the views over the city and out to the Vosges mountains... (I had climbed it on a memorable occasion in 2012, and so volunteered to stay below with our bags this time). We also visited a very old wine cellar and the Tomi Ungerer Museum, another good tip from our friend M. Lunch was delicious flammkuchen and baeckeoffe. The train back was on schedule, and we are back in Paris tonight.
