MotorCity Neighbor

A film picture from our Detroit days when T was is law school. This little guy lived across from our duplex . None of us there yard much of a yard out front , and out back we’re tiny spaces and alleys.
Kids played on stoops out front or in the street. It was early seventies and things were rough and lots of people were unemployed and there was a lot of violence in the city. The Vietnam war (or American war as the Vietnamese called it) was still going on . There was still housing segregation and massive discrimination going on .
At the same time , we met such a diverse group of folks in the downtown neighborhood we lived in. More stories down the road. I found this mounted picture while packing today .
