Stable and unreactive!

The woman I share my classes with was supposed to do Year 8s parents’ evening tonight but was off sick so I unexpectedly had to step in. Although she’s technically their permanent teacher, she’s only been back a few weeks and I’ve not only taught them since September (and most of last year as well) but also still have the majority of the lessons, so it was probably better that I did it anyway and all went well.

It was only the second face-to-face parents’ evening I’ve done since before covid, and the first with this year group, so it was great to meet the parents and speak to them in person.

I’m still kicking myself that I forgot to take any pictures that better summed up the event but, instead, you’ll have to make do with a student’s lovely diagram of a neon atom, one of the noble gases.

As I tell my students, if atoms had feelings, they would all want to be like a noble gas - stable and unreactive.

Wouldn’t we all?
