At Liberty
May 5th is our national day of celebrating Freedom in the Netherlands.
This date was chosen in 1946 as to commemorate the freedom of our country from Nazi occupation (what ended on May 8th 1945) and WW II what ended when Japan capitulated on August 15th (and was affirmed on September 2nd 1945) ~ so on May 5th we celebrate our Freedom nation wide!
The day prior, May 4th we commemorate them who lost their lives in WW II and them who were killed when on missions overseas (Libanon, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan etc.)
And today I discovered a nice green park in Delft, an arboretum, where I spotted this heron at his ease.... Free as a bird, he is!
