The Dhoon
Another gorgeous day, ideal for a walk down Dhoon Glen just north of Laxey on the Isle of Man.
We again took to public transport, getting the steam train, horse tram and then electric train from Douglas up the east coast to the head of the Dhoon.
We are using the public transport as our friend H has only got a small 2+2 seater car and today Chris had no biking to watch so was accompanying us and in addition we now have Woody to look after as H's sister has gone away this week. This meant there were four of us and a dog! So Liz and I met them as they arrived with the dog in the car.
Dhoon Glen is a very steep, wooded ravine with a stream cascading down through it. At the bottom is the beautiful Dhoon beach where a couples of families were enjoying the sun when we arrived. Woody liked the fresh water running into the sea.
You can see Woody in the woods in the bottom right picture, part of the cascading water on the left and, top, the beach from above. In the foreground you can see (best large) bluebells which are everywhere here at the moment, in the woods, hedgerows and on the cliffs.
There are lots of glens in the Isle of Man usually leading to the sea and quite steep. We have been lucky to enjoy this one today.
