Showtime
A relaxed start to the morning before meeting at 10am for a behind the scenes tour of the ship. We started in the galley and saw the waste management area (huge job to keep everything separate), food stores and crew ness before we headed to the show lounge to see the backstage areas. We were lucky enough to also stand on the stage and see the revolving section in action! A nice preview before tonight’s choir performance.
A quick light lunch before catching some sunshine up on deck 13 which is obviously called 14!
Met up at 3pm for the technical rehearsal and got our positions on stage. Somehow I’ve ended up front and centre right in front of Becky our choirmaster. No-one wanted to swap!
It’s the first time we’ve seen the whole choir en made and there’s more people than I thought, at least 40+. We sounded ok but they’ve decided not to use body mikes but instead just a few hand held ones fitted around so we’re not sure if the sound will carry.
Early dinner in the Italian restaurant with a wee glass of wine to calm the nerves before meeting my fellow choir members.
We were quite surprised to see people wiring to get into the show lounge but we were one of the only 2 shows performing so perhaps that was the reason.
When we started the performance the theatre looked to be about 2/3 full so not a bad crowd size. We sang our hearts out, the soloists did well and had an absolute ball. The crowd were even kind enough to give us a standing ovation.
On a high afterwards we watched a Mr & Mrs type gameshow whilst enjoying a couple of cocktails, well I thought I deserved something!
Late back to the cabin where I collapsed into bed very happy.
