‘Processing parkrun Results with Coffee and Cake’

 I went to a local café today after parkrun, where today's run director, Gerald, was processing the results. 

Each finisher carries an individual parkrun barcode, either on their phone, smartwatch, wristband and yes - even on paper! When they finish, they get a. scannable finish token, indicating their position. A team of volunteers then scan both of these on their phones using a dedicated app and the results are uploaded and checked by the event director before being published on the event’s webpage. 

It sounds quite complicated but generally runs pretty smoothly!
