The only red, white and blue in our house
We’ve had a really lovely day. Friends arrived at 1. Alison and John had taken her 93 year old mum for her Covid jab first. As Carol and Phil have Covid we were only 10. Mr C appeared in his 50 year old RAF blazer tailor-made in Hong Kong. His dapper look was somewhat marred by Graham’s Citizen Smith beret.
It was so warm and sunny we sat outside. Some of us are a bit pink tonight. We had no coronation quiche. The only red, white and blue we had was red and white wine and a cocktail I devised with cava and blue Bols. I called it Royal Flush— it looked like loo cleaner.
The food was much appreciated. I thought I’d over-catered but no chance.
I did a potato salad with radishes, blue cheese, cucumber and spring onions in a tahini dressing.
A tomato, pistachio, red onion, green pepper and pomegranate molasses salad
Kale, date, walnut, pumpkin seed, grapefruit massages with chilli oil
A bake of rice, feta, carrot, onion, mushroom, nuts
Alison brought delicious little cheese and chive pastries, Allie did the cheese and biscuits, Chris brought banoffi pie and Linda came with rhubarb jellies.
I was a bit busy being hostess but as people didn’t leave till 7 I’m judge it a success. Colin is a good singer and we all sang The Red Flag at one point.
Our TV miraculously sprang into life tonight. No Smart TV yet for Mr C.
