The first lunch outside

A beautifully sunny day, and we could eat outside, at the back of Betty's, sheltered from the wind.
As the snow melts flowers are appearing, such as the hepatica (liverwort - blåsippa) in our garden, and in the trees around our garden.
We also remembered it was past time to switch over to summer tyres so I fixed that and now our car is once again legal. I've left the winter wheels to dry off so I can brush the mud of them as the garden is still wet. (I needed a little creativity to jack up the car on the soggy ground.)
The extra shows a purple flower with several names...
Common hepatica, liverwort, kidneywort, pennywort, Blåsippa...
Widely spread plants have different names in different languages, or different regional names. In the scientific world Latin terms are used both as a name and to describe the family. Sometimes even there a plant has plural names, as in this case.
Anemone hepatica, or Hepatica nobilis.
Apparently the first name comes from botanists in the 1700's, who thought hepatica was a subgenus of the anemone family. Now it is thought to be a separate genus of its own. Both Latin versions can be found on Wikipedia.
