A Dull Sunday in Kirkwall

Attended a gathering of the Sutherland clan early in the morning in Stromness.  Not one of them now stays in Orkney.  It was a mix of Portsmouth, Exeter, Spain, Edinburgh and Dunbar.  The party included the politest 17 yr old I’ve ever encountered.  Impeccable.

Back at the HQ the gold medal for the bird Mòd must be awarded to the melodious singing of our resident blackbird.  Whilst Mrs B sits on the nest he has sung into the teeth of a bitingly east wind for the past eight days.  Long tailed ducks are still calling in the Flow.
Unusually there was a teatime gig through in the Peedie Kirk in Kirkwall.  Creel HQ kitchen is now full of musicians.

I texted my niece in Glasgow to tell her that I’ve lost my sawdust spoon.  Her instantaneous was ‘We’ve all been there’.

For Sale:  A blanket of haar.  Apply to Orkney.
