A walk to Burnham Overy Staithe

Gavin, Luke and Adam went sailing first thing this morning as high tide was at around 8am and you can only sail about an hour on either side of that. They had a great time despite there not being much wind. After breakfast Gavin took Xena for a run around on Brancaster beach, and when they got back we walked from Brancaster Staithe to Burnham Overy Staithe as we had a lunch booking at 1pm at The Hero pub. I knew it was about a 2 hour walk but of course the boys did not believe me so we left too late and then had to walk extremely fast to get there in time - we phoned to push back our booking and managed to get there in an hour and a half.

It was a glorious day, sunny with blue skies and so warm. We were so hot when we got to the pub after our brisk walk! These images are from the views as we walked on the sea defence wall above the marshes, which is the walking route from the one village to the other.

We had a delicious lunch - it was so warm they opened their sliding doors and it felt like a summer's day. We got the bus back to Brancaster Staithe, and about 5pm as the tide was starting to come in again, we went down to the harbour as the boys all wanted to go on the SUP boards and swim. In the extras are some photos of them enjoying the water, which I believe was 11C. Adam is wearing budgie smugglers as he had just finished swimming - he regularly does cold water swimming and then runs, so does not wear baggy shorts for that as they are too cumbersome when wet and running.

It was a beautiful evening down at the Staithe, the first day that has felt like summer is on its way. The boys have loved the weekend here and we have all enjoyed the coronation weekend activities, even if many comments on Blip have been so scathing.
