Marché Aux Puces
Rainy day, yesterday’s London rain had obviously drifted south to hit Paris. After breakfast and a leisurely start we set off for St Ouen huge Paris flea market in the North of the City. I hadn't been there for years and it had grown bigger but also junkier and more high end. This blip is one of the higher end areas and there were many of what were effectively big antique shops rather than flea market staples. Still we had fun walking about and all I bought was a little Chanel bangle from a vintage costume jewellery shop that was glittering with bling. My bangle was discreet and not particularly old but very pretty.
We decided to go and scope out the new Soho House for lunch, they always end up in such interesting buildings and this one was Jean Cocteau’s old house in Pigalle. Quite small but beautifully done and very relaxed.
Caught the Eurostar home, in fact it was quite quiet so we got on an earlier one which meant we were home by 9.
Turns out the paper carnets of Metro tickets are finally coming to an end as they push people to the Navigo card. Like the old Oyster card you have to invest in one up front and then you can top it up on line.
