Guardian of the annual fair in Bruges
I see something symbolic in this. The gorilla is somehow symbolic the colonisation of Congo and the statue is that of king Albert the first. He was a good king , stayed in Belgium during WWl and visited and suported many times the soldiers on the front line. But 1 of the previous kings , Leopold ll didn t do so wel concerning colonial matters in Congo. Some cruelties happened there. Our present King has given apollogies to Congo for what happened in those years.
