Onion seedlings

I've now planted out my hair-thin onion seedlings in groups of 3. I did 2 rows and popped phacelia in between the rows to provide a green mulch over the summer by strimming it regularly. I find this helps keep some moisture in the soil but dry weather isn't an issue this year so it could still be a good year for onions.

Every year when I see the tiny thread like seedlings, I think I should do onion sets in the autumn but I just enjoy growing them from seed and they're such an easy crop.
