Whatever happened to volunteering?

This afternoon I attended a community event in the Games Park, Bridge of Allan to showcase local volunteering. 
Volunteers put a brave face on it regardless of the rain.
 
Usually such an event would be mobbed. Not so today. Yet another sign of the decline in volunteering in the community despite the fact that this one had Lottery funding to celebrate the Coronation.
