Camouflage and Bloodroot
The Kinder Forest hike had some insect challenges - ticks and blackflies! But this carpet moth, with excellent camouflage, caught my eye when it flew.
Sun is shining and once I picked off about 20 dog ticks the hike was more than worth it. Loads of wildflowers. And best of all the bloodroot still had a few blossoms. I thought I might have missed them altogether, staying in FL too long.
Bloodroot in extra. Latin name Sanguinaria canadensis. Before Hurricane Irene the woods in back of my house was a carpet of bloodroot...but alas, change in the form of thick sand and they moved on.
