Broughton Castle near Banbury
A lovely day out with The Arts Society.
Traffic was horrid. We arrived late but it was so well organised and we were given an excellent tour of this stunning moated castle. It’s the home of the Fiennes family (yes, he’s a cousin). It’s really lived in, and modern furniture has been added among the treasures.
They had the chairs the family had occupied for both the coronations of King George and Queen Elizabeth but unfortunately nobody was able to go last weekend, so they’ve none of Charles III.
We even went up on to the roof, and my photo was taken from that vantage point.
On then to Canons Ashby, a Tudor Manor House. Rain was heading our way so I went round the house briskly so I could see the church and the gardens before the deluge. I made it.
Both excellent places to put on your list.
